Your neighbour may need your help but probably won’t want to ask
The St Albans Good Neighbour Scheme has been solving this problem for over 35 years. Many of our neighbours live on their own and have nobody to call upon when they need extra help. We provide a phone line which they can ring. We then link those who need help with those who are happy to give it. We need to keep reviewing our volunteer list. COULD WE ADD YOUR NAME?
Duty Officers to answer our phone from their own homes;
Practical people who can do little tasks such as fix curtain rails or do shopping;
Drivers who can take people to hospital appointments;
Befrienders who can visit somebody on a regular basis.
It is very flexible. Some volunteers help out a few times a year and others a few times a week.
It is very enjoyable. Expenses are reimbursed.
If you would like to get involved please ring the number above to find out more or look up our website.
